Fire Grants Awarded in 48th District, O’Neal Says

HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington) today announced $163,844 in 2023-24 Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grants were awarded to fire companies throughout the 48th Legislative District.
 
The grant program was initiated in 2000 and is open to volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services and rescue squads in Pennsylvania. Grant awards can be used for construction or repair of facilities, purchase or repair of equipment, debt reduction and training. The funding amounts are contingent on the recipients filing their grant agreements with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

“Our emergency responders work tirelessly every day to keep us safe,” O’Neal said. “This grant program helps reduce the fundraising burden. I have proudly supported the program as it is another way that gaming money is sent back to our area.”

Those fire companies in the district receiving awards are:

• Amwell Township Volunteer Fire Department – $13,062.
• City of Washington Fire Department – $16,952.
• Donora Borough Volunteer Fire Department – $13,840.
• Fallowfield Township Volunteer Fire Department – $15,979.
• Lone Pine Volunteer Fire Department – $13,256.
• Morris Township Volunteer Fire Department – $13,256.
• North Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department – $14,034.
• North Strabane Township Fire Department – $16,952.
• South Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department – $13,451.
• South Strabane Township Fire Department – $20,000.
• West Finley Township Volunteer Fire Department – $13,062.

The 48th Legislative District in Washington County covers the city of Washington; Amwell, part of Carroll (Districts 3, 4 and 5), East Finley, Fallowfield, Morris, North Franklin, part of North Strabane (Districts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5), Nottingham, Somerset, South Franklin, South Strabane, and West Finley townships; and the boroughs of Donora, East Washington and Green Hills.
