Near the old Bon-Ton

Free on-site document shredding will be provided. No more than three grocery bags or small boxes per household are permitted. All bags or boxes of items to be shredded must be placed in the trunk of the vehicle. Once you arrive at the event, please open your trunk and stay inside your vehicle. The items will be removed, boxes will be returned to the trunk, and your trunk will then be shut. This is for personal items only. No businesses, please. No large binder clips or hardbound covers will be accepted. Materials more than one-inch thick will need to be broken down prior to being put through the machines. My staff and I will be available to assist and provide information regarding consumer protection and identity theft.

Illegible License Plate Event
Tuesday, Sept. 27, 4-6 p.m.
Wild Things Park parking lot
1 Washington Federal Way, Washington

Does your license plate have one or more numbers or letters that cannot be recognized from 50 feet away? Is your plate blistered, peeling, discolored or lost its reflectivity? If so, you should have your license plate replaced or risk being fined.

To help facilitate the process to turn in the illegible plate for a new one, I am teaming up with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for a special event. Drivers can bring their vehicles to the parking lot at the Wild Things Park to begin the replacement process. If the plate is determined to be illegible, paperwork will be completed for no free. The new replacement plate should arrive in about two weeks to your home address.

An RSVP is required by clicking here or calling 724-223-4541.

Seniors for Safe Driving
Thursday, Oct. 6, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The ROCK Student Center,
2203 W. Pike St., Houston

In an effort to help older drivers maintain sharp driving skills, I am teaming up with Seniors for Safe Driving to offer a PennDOT-approved course to seniors living in the 48th Legislative District.

By taking the course, participants will learn about current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques and how to operate their vehicle safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment. This is classroom instruction only. No on-the-road driving or classroom testing will occur.

The cost to attend is $16 paid directly to Seniors for Safe Driving and participants receive a 5% discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years. To register, please call 1-800-559-4880 or visit www.SeniorsForSaveDriving.com. Applications and payments should be mailed to Seniors for Safe Driving, P.O. Box 505, Lyndora, PA 16045.
