HARRISBURG – Reps. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington) and Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) today hosted the Canon-McMillan baseball team at the Capitol to recognize its recent state title.
“It is an honor to be able to laud the Big Macs’ baseball team on its state title before my House colleagues,” O’Neal said. “The team’s post-season run was phenomenal. In the state tournament, the team only gave up eight runs and scored 22. And earlier, I was thrilled to witness in person the team winning its first-ever WPIAL baseball title.”
“This Canon-McMillan team has shown true grit,” Ortitay said. “While the final score does not reflect it, the state title game was very close until the fifth inning. These young men persevered and excelled. I’m pleased to be able to recognize them.”
The Big Macs captured the 2018 PIAA Class 6A title at Lubrano Park on the Penn State campus June 15, to close out its 21-5 season. It also won the WPIAL Class 6A title this year. The team was led by captains Ian Hess, Zach Rohaley and Nick Serafino, and Head Coach Tim Bruzdewicz.
O’Neal and Ortitay would like to thank CONSOL Energy and CNX Resources for providing the bus to bring the team to Harrisburg.
